At Origina, information security is one of the pillars we are built on and it is something that extends to every facet of the way that we do business. Security, and most importantly ensuring that our customers’ security is not compromised by Origina’s lack of security, is something that we take incredibly seriously. Security can mean many different things to many different businesses, but there is one universal truth to which they all subscribe- it matters.
One overriding concern to customers is ensuring that any and all suppliers have robust and secure systems. That is why we take such pride in receiving our ISO 27001 certificate.
ISO 27001 is an information security standard that was originally published jointly by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) in 2005, with revisions to the standard occurring in 2013 and 2022. It outlines the steps a business can take in order to establish, maintain and continue to improve an information security management system (ISMS).
Essentially, it is a framework created by experts within the security space that outlines best practices for businesses in regard to their approach to security. As part of this security standard, businesses who have shown a commitment to best security practices are awarded with the ISO 27001 certification.
In order to be awarded the certification a business must go through a rigorous assessment, followed by a two-stage audit process, along with continuous monitoring to ensure recertification every three years. Following this thorough process, a business which is shown to demonstrate a continued commitment to protecting its systems and data by establishing, implementing, and maintaining strong information security practices is awarded with the certification. It is a badge of honor for any business who places huge value in security.
It’s simple really, the ISO 27001 is much more than just a certification- it is a symbol of the credibility of Origina’s commitment to its own security above all else. Origina’s ISO 27001:2013 certification focussed on policies but with the new ISO27001:2022, we demonstrated to the auditors that our technical controls match our policies. This expansion aligns with the ISO 27001:2022 update, which introduced a modernized structure and 11 new technical controls designed to address today’s cybersecurity challenges, such as:
