Cybersecurity has always been at the forefront of Origina’s approach to software maintenance and support. We believe that securing your systems, regardless of version, is an essential component to enabling growth and innovation. Origina is focused on reducing your risk, including third‑party exposure. That’s why we don’t simply preach about it; we practice proactive information security management to keep ours and our customers’ data safe.
Origina has invested heavily in our own security, policies, processes and procedures, to ensure that all customer information is safe and secure and we do not increase customer risk holdings. We’re delighted that our continued diligence has paid off with the achievement of our Cyber Essentials Plus certification.
Cyber Essentials is a U.K. government-backed, industry supported certification that assists your organization in keeping your, and your customers’, data safe and secure from cyber-attacks. Cyber Essentials Plus is the advanced version of the cybersecurity certificate. It builds on the Cyber Essentials scheme by introducing an independent technical audit to verify effective implementation of core protections against common cyber-attacks, offering higher assurance for clients and proving resilience through testing of firewalls, secure configuration, access control, malware protection, and patch management.
Achieving a Cyber Essentials certification requires a verified self-assessment. To achieve a Cyber Essentials Plus certificate, you must also undergo an external verification from an assessor that comes in to perform their own assessment of your organizations systems, such as devices, servers, gateways etc. Essentially, the Cyber Essentials Plus requires a more rigorous, externally verified investigation into the true strength of a company’s commitment to cybersecurity.
The Cyber Essentials certification is a clear demonstration of our commitment to cybersecurity strategies that prioritise vital security protocols and processes that help protect against cyber threats. Cyber Essentials focuses on 5 pillars of technical controls to help verify that organizations have the right security processes in place:
The Cyber Essentials Plus certificate adds to this by offering an even higher level of assurance to a company’s commitment to cybersecurity. Accredited auditors undertake hands on testing and system audits to establish whether effective controls are in place, including vulnerability scans, malware protection checks, and account separation. The audit tests:
The Cyber Essentials Plus certificate takes the basic certificate a step further by demonstrating an organization’s advanced cyber resilience to help improve customer trust. The independent technical audit helps to assure customers that security processes truly work in practice. The willingness to undergo much more rigorous and lengthy testing is just further testament to Origina’s belief in security-first support.
At Origina, we take an enormous sense of pride in our comprehensive approach to security. We believe that being certified with the Cyber Essentials Plus accredit shows that we walk the walk along with talking the talk. By ensuring we have the right processes in place, we can be more certain that our customers feel safe and secure when working with Origina.
This security-first strategy is something we consider throughout our maintenance and support as well. We prioritize proactive security and take a risk-based, defence-in-depth approach that combines cutting-edge technology and strategic foresight. A more proactive service can eliminate unnecessary upgrades, and by extension unnecessary risks and costs with your software systems.
Our Cyber Essentials Plus certification means so much to all of us here at Origina, because we place our customers security above all else. We’re delighted to have that mindset recognized by such a prestigious organization, and we look forward to continuing to demonstrate our commitment to changing the software world for the better.
