The Chronicles of Narnia – C.S Lewis
These are not my favourite books, but they did spark my love of reading and now I always have a book on the go, although it’s more audiobooks these days as I don’t get time to sit and read.

What was your first job?
I had a few unofficial jobs before I could legally work, but my first job on the books was McDonalds when I was 16. Making 6 quarter pounders in 130 seconds.
What’s a fun fact about you that you’d like to share?
I can do a Rubik’s cube in about 1 minute. I am also a huge Pearl Jam fan and have seen them, or variations of them, 16 times in 9 different countries.
What are your hobbies? What do you do in your spare time?
I like to run and enjoy doing Park Runs on Saturday mornings.
I am also a big movie fan and am most content in a half empty cinema watching almost anything.
Since I have a 3-year-old son, my spare time is mostly spent making Lego towers or playing with toy trains.
How is Origina different from any other company that you worked for in the past?
There are several things that set Origina apart and make it a truly great place to work.
The people are exceptional. There is an amazing culture of collaboration and friendliness that makes it a happy place to work.
Everything we do at Origina, we do to the highest of standards. This means Origina will invest in its people and technology to make sure we have the tools and training to be the best in everything we do.
What does the day to day look like for an IT Manager at Origina?
Most days for me at Origina can be broken down into 4 main items.
- Collaborating with the wider IT team and other departments on IT requirements and making sure they always have what they need to do their job to the best of their abilities.
- Working on various IT projects from rolling out new infrastructure in the cloud, deploying and configuring new applications and features.
- Working with our Information Security team to make sure everything we do is as secure as possible. This could involve configuring existing tools or deploying new ones. Always a lot to learn when it comes to IT security.
- Lastly, but most importantly, making sure the IT team is available to help with any issues or requests people may have and making sure IT is never a blocker for people getting their work done.
What interview tips would you have for someone applying for a role with Origina?
Come in with a positive attitude and curious mind. Even in a technical role, attitude and aptitude are more important than current technical skills. Have a good idea of what you are looking for out of your next role, it is important you want to be here as much as we want you here. And in general, be punctual, dress appropriately and if it’s online, make sure your setup is suitable.
