Our story.

The software still worked. The model did not.

Origina was founded in 2012 because Tomás O'Leary and Rowan O'Donoghue refused to accept a model that had shifted control away from software owners and toward the largest software vendors. They first saw the pattern in the IBM ecosystem and quickly realized it wasn't unique to one vendor. It was an industry-wide problem that deserved an industry-wide answer.

Ownership had become rental. Support deadlines had become roadmap deadlines. Commercial policies had become technology decisions. Organizations were being told to change, not because the business needed it, but because the software vendor demanded it.

The model ran on fear. Fear that unsupported meant unsafe, that old meant exposed, that standing still was the risk.

Tomás and Rowan saw a simpler truth. When a software vendor walks away from working software, that is a commercial decision, not a technical verdict. The software does not expire. The support contract does.

So they built an alternative.

Origina was founded to put control of the software roadmap back where it belongs: with the organizations that own the software, not the big software vendors that sell it.

What we believe

We believe the deal became unfair. Origina exists to make it fair again.

We believe organizations should have more influence over the technology they pay for and depend on than the software vendors that sell it. An industry with no checks and balances will always tilt toward the powerful.

We believe constant change is not progress. Tearing out software that works is not sustainable.

We believe independence is the point. Not a cheaper contract, but control and choice over your own technology.

Every other company in this industry profits when you change. We are built around a different incentive: helping organizations decide for themselves when change is necessary and when it is not.

We are not against change.

We are against unnecessary change.

What we've built

What began as a challenge to the status quo has grown into a global organization supporting hundreds of customers across industries, geographies, and some of the world's most complex technology environments.

Most importantly, we have built proof.

Proof that organizations can remain secure without unnecessary upgrades. Proof that technology decisions can be driven by business value rather than software vendor timelines. Proof that customers can regain control of their technology roadmap without sacrificing stability, innovation, or resilience.

Today, organizations around the world are demonstrating that the independent model works.

Some of the world's largest enterprises trust Origina to help keep critical software secure, resilient, and valuable — proving that customer control and long-term software value can coexist with innovation.

The company has grown.

The industry has changed.

The conviction has not.

We were founded to change the world of software.

The work is the same as it was on day one: to give organizations back control of their technology and ownership of their future.

Our belief

"Origina exists because customers deserve control over the software they are entitled to run: how long they run it, how they secure it, and how they evolve it."

Protect what matters. Extend what works. Enhance on your terms.
